180-day Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) for extended stay

Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)

On 28 May 2024, the spokesperson for Thailand’s cabinet announced a series of adjustments to the country’s tourism policies, particularly regarding visa requirements, aimed at bolstering the tourism industry.

In addition to expanding the lists for visa exemption and visa-on-arrival (VoA), the Thai government is planning to introduce a new visa category called the Destination Thailand Visa (DTV), which will enable tourists and digital nomads to have an extended stay in Thailand.

Eligibility

  • Applicant Profiles: Tourists, digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers and trainees (e.g. Muay Thai, Thai cuisine etc)
  • Age: 20 years old & above
  • Creditworthiness: THB 500,000 (financial evidence or company support)

Conditions

  • Visa Period: 180 day (+1 time extension for another 180 day)
  • Validity: To be used within 5 years
  • Note: This is not a work permit. Visa holders are not allowed to work in Thailand

Fees

  • Visa Issuance Fee: THB 10,000
  • Visa Extension Fee: THB 10,000

When can I apply for the DTV?

The DTV has recently received approval during the cabinet meeting and is currently in the draft phase. The details regarding its implementation will only be announced at a later date. Watch this page for updates on the DTV.
