List of night markets in Bangkok (2024)

Check out the list of Bangkok’s night markets in 2024 that are operating, with addresses, opening hours, and what you can expect to find.

Night markets form part of Thailand’s night scene and are avenues for locals to socialize after work or over the weekends. They are also must-visits for tourists in the Land of Smiles.

Night markets were traditionally smaller in scale, consisting of a group of hawkers congregating at a common street to peddle their wares and food to serve only the local communities. In recent years, newer and bigger night markets had sprung up with artistically designed and carnival-like atmospheres.

However, some of these night markets did not survive the pandemic as businesses were badly affected. Not only were there no tourists in the kingdom, but there were also restrictions on locals who visited them. Popular night markets in Bangkok like ArtBox Bangkok and Talad Rot Fai night market had closed down.

Fortunately, these night markets are finally given a new lease of life in September 2022 when all COVID restrictions were lifted and tourists can travel to Thailand like before the pandemic. Since then, several new markets have also emerged.

Platinum Fashion Mall Street Food

Platinum Fashion Mall is located in the touristy Pratunam area and right next to the famous CentralWorld. It is often associated with being a marketplace for wholesale apparel and is popular with tourists from neighboring Malaysia and Singapore. A seemingly make-shift mini bazaar has been operating outside the mall since 2020. It is still operating as of June 2024 and has now become a permanent fixture.

Other than offering delectable Thai street snacks and food, there are also stalls that sell souvenirs, apparel, and pouches in this market of fewer than 30 stalls. There are also a couple of halal food options available here for Muslims.

If you are visiting Platinum Mall for your shopping fix, do not miss out on visiting this small bazaar just outside on the ground floor. Also, walk further up towards Grand Diamond Suites hotel to explore a couple more stalls along the same stretch of the road.

Pratunam Night Market

Pratunam Night Market is one of the longest-operating night markets in Bangkok’s city center. It is a makeshift market in which the site it sits on is an ordinary road in the day, but turns into a night market after tents are erected in the evening.

The market is patronized mainly by tourists who stay in the Pratunam area, especially by those at the adjacent 88-floor Baiyoke Sky Hotel. It houses hundreds of stalls selling souvenirs, fashion, accessories, and street snacks. The market was rather muted with less than 50 stalls when it first reopened in late 2022, it has since recovered to near its hey days at the end of 2023.

For visitors to this bazaar before 8 pm, consider walking to the Platinum Mall nearby to get some Thai street food just outside its complex.

  • Note: The Pratunam wholesale market operates in the morning, while the makeshift stalls for the night market on the roads open in the evening.

Silom Night Market

The Silom Night Market is an unofficial market created by the uncoordinated congregation of hawkers along Silom Road.

It comprises mostly food stalls and is held on the pavement that stretches from Si Lom MRT station all the way to Bangkok Bank’s building. From around 5 pm every day, hawkers push their carts to the side of the road to sell traditional Thai dishes and snacks to workers who pass by after knocking off from work. Prices of food here are very economical, starting from only THB 30 for a pack of rice with Thai style omelet (ไข่เจียว).

However, due to the government’s push to improve accessibility along the walkways of Silom road, the scale of this market has reduced to pockets of vendors who now operate along the side roads connecting Silom Road.

The night bazaar complements the Patpong Night Market which is on the opposite side of the road. Other than food and drinks, the latter include booths that sell apparel, accessories, and personal items, which is more appealing to tourists.

Patpong Night Market

Patpong Night Market used to be one of the must-visit markets for tourists. However, the market did not survive the pandemic and was closed for three years until early 2023. It is now back on the same street but with a cleaner, brighter and hippier atmosphere.

Other than savory snacks and drinks, visitors will be able to find a plethora of other products like souvenirs, clothing, decorations and accessories at this relaunched market. Despite being located within the red light district, Patpong Night Market’s environment is safe for all adults, including families with kids to visit in the evenings.

Jodd Fairs Rama 9 Night Market

Jodd Fairs Rama 9 is a new night market that sprung up in September 2021 during the pandemic. While several unverified sources online reported that this market is a revived Talad Rot Fai Ratchada Night Market, it is important to note that the bazaar is NOT located on the same site as the original train market.

This market is hip, trendy, and appeals to a youthful audience. Apart from just being just a food fair, it offers products ranging from fashion wear, furniture, food, souvenirs to farm produces. There are also communal dining spaces within the compound for patrons to consume their snacks and food.

Since its opening, the fair has progressively expanded its area and now hosts an additional section by the small canal. There have also been improvements to the pathways and lighting to enhance the shopping and dining experience.

  • Note: To reach the night market, head towards the exit on the Ground Floor of Central Rama 9 near the tower lift.

Unfortunately, the current venue hosting the fair will be reclaimed by the landlord after its lease expires at the end of 2024. Jodd Fairs has announced its relocation to a larger and upgraded venue near Thailand Cultural Centre MRT station in November 2024, to be named “Jodd Fairs Ratchada”. Before this transition, we encourage you to visit the fair during its remaining months at the current location and experience its vibrant, chic, and distinctive atmosphere.

The One Ratchada

The One Ratchada Night Market started only in September 2022 as all COVID restrictions were lifted. It sits on the site of the former Train Night Market Ratchada Night Market and houses more than 100 stalls offering a range of products and services from food, apparel, accessories, to manicure.

The bazaar exudes a tropical feel with many palm trees placed in its compound. Its walkways are wide and laid with benches where patrons can sit for a short break. Ample shared dining tables are available in the market for patrons to comfortably eat their food and snacks.

However, during our last visit to this night market in June 2024, the crowd was sparse and half of the stores were closed. We are concerned about its viability and therefore do not recommend visiting this night market at this time.

Train Night Market DanNeramit (formerly Jodd Fairs DanNeramit)

A year after the grand opening of Jodd Fairs DanNeramit, also known as Jodd Fairs 2.0, in April 2023, the night market along Phahonyothin Road underwent a rebranding to become Train Night Market DanNeramit in May 2024. This vibrant market features attractions such as a fairytale castle, flamingo statues, and a lineup of vintage vehicles at the entrance, providing perfect photo opportunities for visitors.

This market attracts youths and tourists with its chic atmosphere. Situated a bit further from the city centre, it offers a quieter and less crowded experience compared to most night markets in town. There are plenty of benches along the pathways and seats by the small river at the end of the market where visitors can relax while enjoying their food, having a beer, or simply unwinding. It’s an ideal destination for those seeking to escape the hustle and bustle of the city.

Indy Night Market

Indy Night Market is a bazaar in the Thonburi area providing a notable assortment of street food, local crafts, fashion, and accessories.

Like the now defunct Artbox at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center that offered patrons an avenue to dine, drink and chill in shipping containers, there are container-inspired bars and restaurants at Indy Market that also offer conducive environments with booze and music for friends to chat and chill in.

This night market is mostly frequented by locals and is lesser known to tourists. The main reason is due to its proximity to the residential neighborhood without any major touristy landmarks nearby. Nevertheless, it is a good place for visitors to chill in the Thai way.

Srinagarindra Train Night Market

Also known as Rot Fai Market Srinakarin, this night bazaar is not to be confused with the popular Roi Fai Ratchada Market located right in the city center. Srinagarindra Train Night Market is situated further out of the city core and nearer to the Suvarnabhumi airport.

The only public transportation available is a bus stop beside Seacon Square. If you plan to travel there by BTS, you can drop off at On Nut station and take a 30-minute taxi ride to the venue.

Vintage is the theme of the Srinakarin Train Night Market. Apart from antiques and vintage items on sale, the décor is filled with old-school elements with a vintage car, parts of an old propeller aircraft, and zinc roofs on the buildings. Visitors to this market can also find a wide variety of shops from street food, fashion wear, nail salons, tattoo studios, to bars.

Apart from being just a market where you can buy local crafts and designer products, Chang Chui Plane Night Market it is also a exhibition gallery and art performance space where artists showcase their art pieces and talent. Featuring a life-size airplane in the middle of its compound, the bazaar is also artistically decorated, exuding an artsy ambience as visitors stroll through the pathways. There are also restaurants and bars for shoppers to take a break or while away the evening in the company of live music performances.

This market is lesser known to tourists as it is located more than 10 kilometers away from Bangkok’s city center and is not easily accessible via public transport. However, if you are looking to visit a unique night market in Bangkok and have some time to spare, do include it in your travel itinerary.

Green Vintage Ratchayothin Night Market

The recently established Green Vintage Ratchayothin Night Market has become a noteworthy addition to the town, thanks to its advantageous position adjacent to MRT Ratchayothin. While situated in the Chatuchak area, this night market is not within walking distance of the famous Chatuchak Weekend Market.

Consider the Green Vintage Ratchayothin Night Market as a local rendition of Jodd Fairs, attracting a significantly larger number of local visitors. When you pay a visit to this night market, you can conveniently plan a movie night at Major Cineplex Ratchayothin, located directly opposite the night market in Avenue Ratchayothin.
