Thailand Visa Requirements 2023

As a tourism superpower, travel industry contributes as much as 20% to Thailand’s GDP before onset of COVID-19 pandemic.

In order to facilitate the entrance of more tourists, Thailand offers visa free travel and visa on arrival for most countries and territories in the world. To enjoy visa free travel or visa on arrival for Thailand via Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket or other airports, you just need an ORDINARY passport from one of the countries or territories listed below.

No visa required for stay of up to 14 days

(Temporarily extended to 45 days)

Following Thailand’s Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announcement on 23 September 2022 that COVID-19 will be downgraded from ‘a dangerous communicable disease’ to ‘a communicable disease under surveillance’ from October 2022, visa exemption period for the follwoing countries will be extended from 14 days to 45 days

This scheme is part of the Thai government’s strategy to revive the tourism section and will be in effect from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023.

  • Cambodia
  • Myanmar (via international airports only)

No visa required for stay of up to 30 days

(Temporarily extended to 45 days)

Following Thailand’s Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announcement on 23 September 2022 that COVID-19 will be downgraded from ‘a dangerous communicable disease’ to ‘a communicable disease under surveillance’ from October 2022, visa exemption period for the following countries will be extended from 30 days to 45 days

This scheme is part of the Thai government’s strategy to revive the tourism section and will be in effect from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023.

Holders of Brazil, Peru and South Korea’s ordinary passports are entitled to 30 days visa free travel under tourist visa exemption scheme and 90 days visa free travel under bilateral agreements.

Visa on arrival (VOA) for stay of up to 15 days

(Temporarily extended to 30 days)

Following Thailand’s Centre of COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announcement on 23 September 2022 that COVID-19 will be downgraded from ‘a dangerous communicable disease’ to ‘a communicable disease under surveillance’ from October 2022, Visa-on-Arrival (VoA) period granted to the following countries will be extended from 15 days to 30 days.

This scheme is part of the Thai government’s strategy to revive the tourism section and will be in effect from 1 October 2022 to 31 March 2023.
