Songkran Festival 2025 (สงกรานต์ 2568), also known as the Thai New Year, will be celebrated across the country from 13 – 16 April 2025.
As the most significant festival in Thailand, Songkran marks the beginning of the Thai New Year with a variety of traditional activities. Locals will engage in practices such as cleaning their homes, honouring elders by washing their feet with scented water, and praying at temples during this 4-day public holiday.
In addition to these long-standing religious and cultural traditions, both Thais and visitors will take to the streets to splash water on each other, symbolizing celebration, purification and rejuvenation.
Note: Songkran officially begins on 13 April and ends on 15 April each year. Since 13 April 2025 falls on a Sunday, 16 April 2025 is expected to be designated as a public holiday to extend the celebration.
