Songkran Festival

Songkran Festival in 2022 will be held between April 13 to 15, 2022. Due to the COVID-19 situation, the celebration of Thai new year was a lot more muted in 2021 compared with previous years. We hope the situation will improve and return to normal in the coming year.
Songkran Festival 2023 will last from 13 - 15 April 2023. Over the 3 days that mark the start of the Thai new year, locals will perform a series of activities from cleaning their homes, paying respect to elders by cleaning their feet with scented water, to performing religious rituals at the temples. Apart from these solemn activities, it is also a tradition for Thais and foreigners alike to roam the streets and spray water at one another as a symbol of celebration, purification and rejuvenation.
Songkran Festival 2024 (สงกรานต์ 2567), also known as the Thai New Year, will be celebrated from 12 - 16 April 2024 throughout the country. Marking the start of the most important festival in Thailand, locals will perform a series of activities from cleaning their homes, paying respect to elders by cleaning their feet with scented water, to praying at the temples over the 5 day public holiday.
Songkran Festival 2025 (สงกรานต์ 2568), also known as the Thai New Year, will be celebrated across the country from 13 - 16 April 2025. As the most significant festival in Thailand, Songkran marks the beginning of the Thai New Year with a variety of traditional activities. Locals will engage in practices such as cleaning their homes, honouring elders by washing their feet with scented water, and praying at temples during this 4-day public holiday. In addition to these long-standing religious and cultural traditions, both Thais and visitors will take to the streets to splash water on each other, symbolizing celebration, purification and rejuvenation.
