Thailand Public Holidays 2026

Check Thailand’s 2026 public holiday dates to plan your trips ahead and organize travel itineraries.

As Buddhism is the primary religion practiced by over 90% of Thailand’s population, many of the country’s public holidays are closely linked to important Buddhist observances.

In 2026, Thailand will have 8 long weekends, during which government offices, schools, banks, and many businesses will be closed. Tourists need not worry, however, as shops and popular attractions generally remain open during these holiday periods.

One additional date to note is 2 January 2026, which has been declared a public holiday to extend the New Year celebrations, creating a five-day long break.
